Care instruction for Carrara Marble tops
- Marble table top is porous and can easily be stained, scratched or chipped.
- Protect from acidic liquids like wine, coffee, fruit juice and tomato sauce. Always clean spills immediately and rinse with a clean, damp cloth.
- Do not place hot items directly on the table top.
- Do not use chemical cleansers, dusting sprays, abrasive cleaners or furniture polish.
- To prevent ring marks, place coasters or trivets under glasses and dishes; use mats or runners beneath hard objects that might scratch the surface.
- Dust frequently with a clean, soft cloth. Wash periodically with a cloth dampened with warm water, and if necessary, a small amount of mild dishwashing liquid. Use a second damp cloth to remove the soap.
- Protecting marble against etching and staining takes effort, but thankfully not a lot. Experts share tips on how to treat it right to ensure it will look its best for many years :
SEAL
Sealing repels staining agents but doesn’t make marble stain proof. “When water no longer beads, it’s time to reseal”.
PROTECT
Vinegar, citrus, and tomato will etch marble; don’t let them sit on the stone. “Treat marble as you would a fine wood finish” “Use coasters and cutting boards. Wipe up spills immediately”.
CLEAN
Avoid using acidic or abrasive cleaners. “Vacuum or sweep up loose dirt, and use a damp mop or sponge regularly”.
